You’re Not an Upline – You’re Leading a Movement

If you’re a network marketer, you may view your responsibilities to your team as

  • Directing them to the company training
  • Conducting weekly training group calls
  • Answering questions
  • Helping them recruit through 3-way calls and other mechanisms
  • Encouraging your business builders

But your roll as the leader of your team is much more than being a simple Upline.

If you want to retain the people who sign up with you, you need to see yourself as the leader of a Movement that will change people’s lives. Russell Brunson, in his latest book Expert Secrets, researched movements throughout the years and found they all have three things in common:

1. A charismatic character (that’s you)
2. A new opportunity for change (that’s your opportunity)
3. A cause (that’s the culture you’re building)

Brunson points out in his discussion that people want to place their faith in something bigger than themselves.

As he quotes from the film Rogue One, Rebellions are built on hope.

Your team members are hoping that, not only will the products they share change the lives of the people they are selling to and enrolling, they will change their own lives so in the end they can achieve the life you’ve helped them envision.

That’s why it’s so important to know why people sign up with you.

You can train them to tick off the benefits to weight loss … even help them cite the emotional impact of losing 10 or 20 pounds … so they can sell more effectively to their prospects and customers.

You can point them in the direction of the company’s latest marketing materials to pass out.

You can jump on their prospecting calls and tell your story.

And you can send out encouraging sayings and messages.

But the real key to firing up your team and keep them coming back week after week for more is to help them feel like their part of a movement that will not only change other people’s lives … by and large, people want to help other people … is this.

It will also give them the future they’ve placed their hope and faith in.
